Growing a different relationship with the city.

Cities are often described as places apart from nature. We see them differently.

Nature is already here—in the cracks of the pavement, along railway embankments, beside canals, beneath flyovers and in the forgotten spaces that most people walk past without noticing. Our work begins by paying attention to these places and asking what they might teach us about living differently.

The city is a forum.
A place to explore ideas.
Challenge preconceptions.

An experimental playground.

Wild City Studio explores the relationship between people, nature and the urban environment. Through landscape, publishing, photography, community projects and creative practice, we explore new ways of imagining cities that are healthier, more resilient and more connected.

We believe creativity is as important as ecology. A book can change how someone sees a verge, just as a community garden can change how a neighbourhood sees itself. Lasting change comes not only through building places, but through changing perspectives.

We are interested in working with the character of a place rather than imposing a fixed idea upon it. Every site carries its own history, ecology and community. Our role is to listen first, then respond with imagination, care and optimism.

This is not about returning cities to some imagined past. It is about helping them evolve into richer, more diverse places where people and nature can thrive together.

Three beliefs
  1. 01We believe in experimentation.
  2. 02We believe in collaboration.
  3. 03We believe in making, documenting and sharing what we learn so others can build upon it.

Above all, we believe that even the smallest intervention—a planted verge, a photograph, a conversation or a piece of writing—has the potential to change how people experience the world around them.

Because changing a city often begins by changing the way we see it.
