Markfield Rd Festival 2024
A community festival in Markfield Park — music, speeches, the mayor and the unveiling of the Legacy Garden and Orchard.
The 2024 edition of the Markfield Rd Festival brought neighbours, musicians and civic figures together in the park to celebrate the year's work — a full day of live music, community gathering and the official unveiling of the Legacy Garden and Orchard.
Speeches from the Mayor of Haringey and community leaders marked the moment the garden and orchard were handed back to the people who use them every day. Interpretive boards told the story of how the space came to be.
Live music ran through the afternoon — acoustic sets against the graffitied corten walls of the garden, drawing people in and holding them there long after the speeches ended.
Between sets, the paths filled with familiar faces — regulars from the community garden, first-time visitors, kids running between the fruit trees. The festival is a marker in the year, and a reminder of why this work belongs to the neighbourhood.
